President George W. Bush and Mrs. Laura Bush are honored to host Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and His Royal Highness The Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh on Monday, May 7, 2007.
Riehl's flag-draped coffin lay in the gym directly under a green-trimmed basketball hoop. Riehl, who was Shiocton's basketball captain in his senior year, led the Chiefs to the 2004 Central Wisconsin Conference championship.
The Arrival Ceremony for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and His Royal Highness The Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh, will take place on May 7, 2007 on the South Lawn of the White House. Approximately 7,000 guests will attend the Arrival Ceremony.
People from Shiocton and communities from as far away as Green Bay and Stevens Point filled the gym's bleachers an hour before the 2 p.m. service, attended by Gov Jim Doyle.
The dinner will take place in the State Dining Room following a reception in the East Room on the State Floor. One hundred thirty-four guests will be seated in the State Dining Room.
Family members offered tear-filled tributes to the fallen soldier.
In honor of the Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain and His Royal Highness The Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh the attire for the State Dinner is white tie.
Standing alongside the coffin was Riehl's close friend and classmate, Brian Rousseau, who joined the Army in November 2005 with Riehl and was in Iraq with him. Among the pallbearers was his cousin, Trenton Riehl, who recently returned to the United States after serving a tour of duty in Iraq with the Army.
The menu will include five courses: Appetizer/Soup, Fish, Meat, Salad and Dessert.
Riehl and two other 3rd Infantry Division soldiers died April 27 in Fallujah, Iraq, when a roadside bomb exploded near them.
The table settings will be appropriately appointed with historically significant pieces, including Cream Damask tablecloths with beige strié to cover the thirteen tables.
The Rev. Michael Isbill, who presided over the funeral, said Riehl, a scout with the 3rd Infantry, had defused seven other improvised explosive devices before being killed by an eighth.
The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh will then host a Return Dinner for the President and Mrs. Bush at the Embassy of Britain on May 8, 2007.
Months before Army soldier Nicholas Riehl (REEL) died in Iraq, he wrote and recorded a song called, "Standing at the Black Gate."
At his funeral this afternoon at Shiocton High School, more than 900 mourners heard his voice one more time as he sang, "They stole my life now. I've lost what's real."
Evan Riehl, says the prophetic song seems to tell the story of his brother's death. He says he figured people would want to hear Nic's words.
